Opening Day Is 75 Days Away. Here’s How WYLLL Players Can Train Like the Pros This Offseason
Opening Day is still 75 days out, but the best players in our league know something important: champions aren’t made in February… they’re made right now.
Across Major League Baseball, this is the season when pros quietly put in their most important work. They build strength, sharpen fundamentals, and show up to Spring Training ready—not rusty. WYLLL players can do the same.
1. Play Catch… A Lot
Every pro starts here. Ten minutes of focused catch a few times a week builds arm strength, accuracy, and confidence. Work on clean transfers, smooth footwork, and hitting your partner in the chest.
2. Swing With Purpose
You don’t need a full cage—just a backyard or an open space. Pros take hundreds of dry swings every week to stay loose and repeat their mechanics. Aim for 25–40 controlled swings a day, focusing on balance and finishing your swing.
3. Build Speed and Agility
Big leaguers spend the offseason getting faster so everything on the field feels easier. Short sprints, quick-feet ladder drills, or even backyard tag games all help build baseball-ready movement.
4. Get Strong the Safe Way
Young players shouldn’t train like pros in the weight room—but they can train like athletes. Body-weight exercises (push-ups, planks, air squats) make a huge difference in hitting, throwing, and running power.
5. Watch Baseball Like a Student
MLB players review film all offseason. WYLLL players can learn by watching a few innings a week:
- Notice how fielders move before the pitch.
- Watch baserunners read the ball.
- Pay attention to the catcher’s stance and signs.
All of this builds baseball IQ—one of the game’s biggest separators.
6. Rest and Recover
Every pro has an offseason plan—and rest is part of it. Sleep and healthy routines keep young athletes fresh and ready to improve.
Seventy-five days will go fast.
The players who show up strongest on Opening Day will be the ones who treated the offseason like an opportunity. Our coaches are getting ready, our fields are getting ready, and we can’t wait to see our players step back between the lines—prepared, confident, and excited.
Let’s make Spring 2026 your best season yet.
