Divisions

T-Ball Minor
For the first time, we are offering this new division at West Yorba Linda Little League!   This division is designed for first year players baseball league ages of 3 and 4. This division will meet on Saturdays only for about an hour and 15 minutes. The first 45 minutes will focus on skill building followed by 30 minutes of game play.  Parent involvement is highly encouraged and needed.  T-Ball Minor is a great way to introduce baseball to young children. It is a fun and educational activity that helps them develop their physical, social, and emotional skills. It also prepares them for the next level of little league baseball, T-Ball.


T-Ball
This division uses a batting tee for the entire season. All players bat throughout the game and all play in the field each inning. Division is for  4-5 year olds. First time 5 year olds only, returning 5 year olds should play Minor A. Teams will practice 3 days per week before games start. Once games begin, practices typically decrease to one practice per week with 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday) per week. Practices and games are 1 hour in duration and are scheduled during the week (between 4:00-6:00 pm) and Saturday (9:00 am-4:00 pm). Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice). 

Minor A
This division is coach pitch for the entire season. All players bat throughout the game and play in the field each inning. Division is for 5-6 year olds. First time 6 year olds ONLY, returning 6 year olds should play Single A. Teams will practice 3 days per week before games start. Once games begin, practices typically decrease to one practice per week with 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday) per week. Practices and games are 75 minutes in duration and are scheduled during the week (between 4:00-6:00 pm) and Saturday (9:00 am-4:00 pm). Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).

Single A
This division is our last level of instructional baseball and is kid pitch. All players bat throughout the game and a selected number of defensive players are on the field each inning. Defensive number will  vary depending on roster size. Division is for 6-8 year olds. This Division is also designed to teach pitching mechanics to those wanting to pitch competitively at the next level. Note 6 year olds can not pitch in this division.  Teams will practice 3 days per week before games start. Once games begin, practices typically decrease to one practice per week with 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday)per week. Practices and games are 90 minutes in duration and are scheduled during the week (between 4:00-6:00 pm) and Saturday (9:00 am-5:00 pm). Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).

AA
This is the first level of our Minor League and it is a competitive division. This division keeps score so at the end of the game, there will be a winner of the game. Standings are posted as well. All players bat throughout the lineup. Age range is 8-9 year olds with 10 year olds not drafted into AAA. Ten (10) year olds can not pitch in AA. This is the first division that players tryout and are drafted to a team by a manager. Teams will typically practice 2-3 (max is 3 practices per week) times per week until games begin and then 1-2 times per week after games begin. There are typically 2 games per week (one weekday and one Saturday). Games start at 4:45 during the week and anytime between 9:00-5:00 on Saturdays. Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).

AAA
This division is the highest level of the minor league program. All players bat in the lineup throughout the game. Age range from 9-10, with 11 year olds not drafted in Majors. Teams will typically practice 2-3 (max is 3 practices per week) times per week until games begin and then 1-2 times per week after games begin. There are typically 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday) per week. Games start at 6:30 during the week and anytime between 9:00-5:00 on Saturdays. Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).  

Majors
This division is the highest level of Little League. Ages range from 11-12 years old, with  any declared 10 year olds. Teams will typically practice 2-3 (max is 3 practices per week) times per week until games begin and then 1-2 times per week after games begin. There are typically 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday) per week. Games start at 6:30 during the week and anytime between 9:00-5:00 on Saturdays. Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).  

50/70
This division begins the progression to "real baseball." Leading off and throwing from the stretch.  Ages 11-13. This division bridges the gap between the field size of 46-60 in Majors to 60-90 in Juniors.  Games are played with other leagues/districts in our area. Some travel is required. Teams will typically practice 2-3 (max is 3 practices per week) times per week until games begin and then 1-2 times per week after games begin. There are typically 2 games (one weekday and one Sunday) per week. Games start at 6:30-7:00 during the week and anytime between 1:00-5:00 on Sundays. Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).  


Juniors
Ages are 13-14. This division competes within an alliance between District 56 Leagues (East Hills Yorba Linda, Brea, Golden Hill, La Habra, East Fullerton, West Fullerton, Murphy Ranch, Whittier and Hacienda Heights). Games locations will vary and be played at various Leagues during the season. Teams will typically practice 2-3 (max is 3 practices per week) times per week until games begin and then 1-2 times per week after games begin. There are typically 2 games (one weekday and one Saturday) per week. Games start at 6:30-7:00 during the week and anytime between 9:00-5:00 on Saturdays. Teams can not have more than 3 baseball events per week (includes games and practice).
